Accessing Protective Equipment

Accessing Protective Equipment

Unpaid carers have been included as a priority group who now have access to personal protective equipment (PPE). The following routes have been made available for you to access PPE…

1) Unpaid carers who care for some who is in receipt of services such as; a home care package, should seek advice and request PPE via the ‘lead professional’. This may be the allocated social worker or the manager of the home care service that is accessed.

2) Unpaid carers who care for someone who do not access any services they should phone the North Lanarkshire Recovery Team on 0300 555 0407. This number is for all enquiries related to Covid-19 in North Lanarkshire. Option 2 on response is for enquiries about PPE and the call will be directed through to the Access Social Work team who will offer suitable advice, and if appropriate, sign-post to other supports. However, if PPE is seen as part of the solution, the worker will confirm with the caller what has been agreed to be ordered and whether it is a one off delivery or a repeat delivery. The confirmed order will be sent to the Equipment and adaptation store for delivery. All orders received before 4pm will be delivered the next working day. Should this lead onto a weekend and cause difficulties this should be discussed with the access social worker at the time.

The Scottish Government has issued detailed guidance for unpaid carers which can be found here:
