Following a successful campaign by parents and disabilities rights campaigners and a landmark judgement by the Supreme Court in 2015, the government has scrapped the rules that previously stopped payment of DLA or PIP for children who go into hospital.

In addition, parents who provide 35 hours or more of care a week will also keep their Carers’ Allowance if their child is in hospital. Find out more about the campaign, claiming DLA for your child and the new rules on the Contact a Family website.
